MALA BEADS (Prayer/Affirmation Beads) Mala is the Nepali word for necklace, literally meaning “string of beads.” Mala beads are also referred to as prayer beads as they are used in meditative practices. Mala beads consist of exactly 108 beads to symbolize: that we all are one; that life is cyclical; and that life is infinite - with no ending and no beginning. Mala beads can be used in conjunction with mantras which are designed to assist one in sending his or her intentions out into the universe. As one yoga student put it, “they are a great reminder to pray.” Mantra Meditation has been found to have enormous mental and physical benefits. Meditation also speeds healing and can allow you to think yourself strong. In short, a person can get more control over their life through meditation. Harvard University Professor/Medical Doctor Herbert Benson recognizes that “meditation on spiritual words is the most healing of all techniques.”

that appeals to you, or create one of your own.
